On the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
On the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, we would like to focus on grooming a peaceful society. The historic speech of Dr. Kalam at the Golden Jubilee of the European Union is still fresh in our minds. Dr. Kalam quoted “When there is harmony in the home, there is order in the nation. When there is order in the nation, there is peace in the world”. From his words, it is intelligible that the onus lies on the individuals to build a tolerant atmosphere. A peaceful society is a reflection of their mind-set. Remember, charity begins at home. Every household should turn into an abode of peace, moulding the younger generation into considerate righteous citizens.

Dr. Kalam also quoted from the Tamil classic literature “Puranaanooru” which mentions, “yaadhum oorae, yaavarum kaeleer”. The translation of which is, “Every city belongs to us and every citizen, our kin”. This phrase, shrinks the global community into a small world where people are encouraged to accept the entire inhabitants as one family. Once this feeling of oneness is held closer to our hearts, a peaceful world isn’t a distant dream anymore.
